Addressing Climate Resilience & Sustainable Forestry and Agriculture through the Carbon Market

With MAUI /Xamarin C# Native on .Net we developed iPhone / Android app for collecting tree data for Carbon Sequestration analysis & farmer payment.
The TreeO2 platform is a digital forestry and carbon farming management system designed to help communities, NGOs, and smallholder farmers plant, track, and manage trees at scale. It combines a mobile app, RFID tagging, GPS mapping, cloud data storage, and carbon accounting into one platform.
At its core, the app is used by farmers and field inspectors to:
- Register and identify individual trees using RFID/NFC tags attached to each treeRecord
- GPS coordinates and photos for verification
- Measure tree growth over time, including circumference and optional height
- Monitor tree survival rates and forest health
- Upload field data to a central cloud database
- Calculate carbon sequestration and carbon credit values
- Support payments to farmers for maintaining living trees
The system is especially focused on community forestry projects in developing regions such as Timor-Leste, where farmers are incentivised through annual payments linked to tree survival and growth. This creates a “pay-to-grow” carbon farming model where trees become an ongoing income source rather than a one-time planting exercise.
The mobile app itself supports:
- Offline field data collection
- RFID/NFC scanning of tree tags
- Farmer identification workflows
- Tree measurement and photo capture
- Batch uploads and retry handling
- Multi-language support including Tetun translations
From a technical perspective, TreeO2 functions as a full forest inventory and carbon monitoring platform.
